Does the backlight of your digital watch seem weak? Or maybe the screen just goes blank? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, chances are you might need a new battery. In fact, your watch needs a battery replacement every few years. But with different watch battery sizes, it might prove quite hard to determine the right one for your watch.

Nevertheless, this should never be the underlying reason why you’re having sleepless nights. This is because you can easily replace the ‘button battery’ without having any prior knowledge. To pull this off successfully, you need to know the 3-or-4-digit number that specifies its size. All it takes is for you read the back of the watch after which you can find the information you need.

If you still find it hard, then it would be better tosearch for your owner’s manual. The good news is you can always figure out the owner’s manual with a simple search on the internet. Simply enter the brand name and model number in any online search engine. When all these options are not yielding the results you expect, remove the back of the watch and look at the numbers on the battery directly.

To wedge the back off easily, you need to use a knife since the gap between the rest of the body and the watch back tends to be very slender. Be sure to work the knife around the edge as you remove the back away. Avoid pressing the knife into the watch as it will only make things harder for you.

The Bottom Line

Determining the battery size for your watch is not that hard provided you understand how to go about it.  If you own an expensive watch, it is not advisable for you to open up the back yourself. The same case applies when your watch happens to have a rubber ring that keeps the back of the timepiece waterproof. After all, there is no essence of causing damage to your most valued item.
